Our mission at Gateway...
...is "to lead everyday people to become fully devoted followers of Christ." It's pretty straight forward, but carries a significant challenge and purpose for our existence as a church. With a clear mission, everything we do as a church, we do to try and fulfill this mandate.
What do we mean by "Everyday People" ?
- People who are new to faith
- People who are searching
- People who live next door
- People in your office
- Everyday People!
Everyday people are simply real people that we share life with in the real world.
And how do we know what our lives should look like as a "fully devoted follower of Christ"? We use something called the "GUIDE" to challenge us in our spiritual journey:
The GUIDE
G - I will pursue a growing relationship with Christ through reading Scripture, prayer, worship and other spiritual disc-iplines.
U - I will seek opportunities to serve my church family and those beyond my church, utilizing my gifts, talents and time.
I - I understand the importance of being a part of the Gateway church family. As such, I will participate in biblical community through worship services, Life Groups, Celebrate Recovery, and/or ministry teams.
D - I will seek opportunities to develop relationships with everyday people, recognizing my role as an ambassador to the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.
E - I recognize that everything belongs to God, and with God's help, I commit to aim for the biblical teaching on giving back to God in regard to my time, talents, and biblical tithe (ten percent of my income).
