Pastoral Staff

Here at Gateway Community we enjoy the opportunity to get to know everyone individually.  We invite you to read a little bit about us and understand that we, as staff, are also a part of the "everyday people" that we seek to reach.  Click the drop down items on the left to navigate to various ministry areas and find their corresponding leaders.  Information and images will display below.

Randy Hageman - Senior/Lead Pastor

Randy Hageman was born in Alexandria, Louisiana, and graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked in the air-conditioning industry in Houston after graduation. Though he grew up in the church, by the time he moved to Houston he had stopped attending. An acquaintance invited him to his church, and Randy began attending, mostly to meet other single adults. However, over time, as he attended and also volunteered with the youth, God worked in his heart and he fully committed himself to following Jesus Christ. Within a year of making that commitment he began feeling a call to ministry, and eventually surrendered to his calling to become a United Methodist pastor.

Randy moved to Tyler, TX, to work in a church and begin seminary at SMU in Dallas. He met Susan there, and a year later they were married. Susan also decided to attend seminary and they both graduated in 1989. From there Randy served churches in Lufkin, Grand Saline and Hallsville, before returning to Houston and this church, where he has served as Senior Pastor since 2004. Randy and Susan have a daughter, Kathryn, who is a college student, son, William, who is in the fifth grade.

Time with his family is very precious to him. He also enjoys traveling with his wife, and he has a particular passion for bass fishing and hunting. Randy gave up golf for Lent many years ago and continues to believe it is one of the best decisions he ever made.
