Starfish Kenya

Starfish Kenya is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is supported administratively by Gateway Community Church. Starfish Kenya works to rescue and empower children who have been orphaned by the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Kenya... one child at a time.

We currently provide resources for two projects in Kenya: House of Hope and St. Anna Day Care Centre. Currently, over 200 children are being given hope through the generosity of sponsors and a family of committed supporters. Children are being provided with housing, regular meals, clothing, basic medical care and educational assistance. Once in dire circumstances, these children have now been given a another chance at life and are experiencing the love of an amazing God. While the road for these children and others to come is still long, it is headed in an upward direction.

Mission Trip to Kenya

Every summer, a Starfish Mission Team travels to Kenya to visit with the children and staff at House of Hope and St. Anna Day Care Centre. During the trip, the team follows up on progress at both locations, conducts training, organizes activities and spends time with the children. Starfish Kenya Mission Trip 2012 is tentatively scheduled for June 28 to July 12, 2012.  An informational meeting is scheduled for Sunday, January 29 at 12:15 PM in the PATH room.  We are looking for task-oriented individuals with at heart to serve on this focused trip to teach and train staff and children in various skills, crafts and specialties.  See firsthand how God and His church are restoring children in Kenya who have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS.  The cost will be approximately $3,000 to $3,500.  The deadline for trip commitment forms and a non-refundable $200 deposit is February 26, 2012.  Contact Eva Go for more details or for information on serving on the stateside team.  You can also check out the Needs List for ways to contribute.

Foreign Mission Trips

Throughout the year, mission trips are organized to allow volunteers to deliver aid to areas in need of dental/medical care, construction, education, job training and/or supplies.  Past teams have traveled to Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and Haiti.
